Pacific Regency Hotel Suites

It has been some time since I stayed in a 5 star accommodation so I decided to go the most affordable one at Pacific Regency Hotel Suites in Kuala Lumpur, while attending a colleague’s wedding there.

Tucked away amidst the hidden gems of Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve, off Jalan P Ramlee, Pacific Regency Hotel Suites is located at the heart of  commercial and lifestyles district of Kuala Lumpur.

At its Golden Triangle address next to KL Tower and strategically positioned within walking distance of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, most places are only a walk away such as the shopping paradise of Bintang Walk, the entertainment enclave of Changkat Bukit Bintang and much more.

Let’s take a look at the rooms now…

Chateau de Caffeinees

Caffeinees is a quaint little café housed in a single-storey garden bungalow. If one is not familiar with the roads in Kuala Lumpur, it is quite easy to miss the café as it is located just next to the open road with no visible signage prior to approaching. The only thing I can advise is to look to your left once you turned into Jalan Kampung Pandan and look out for the cream coloured bungalow.

The patio that lies in plain view when we entered, certainly looks inviting and homely. After we signed in the guest book as we were there to attend a colleague’s wedding lunch, I went to explore the back area. It was quite a spacious open area with a view of the Petronas Twin Tower in the back and tables were set up for the guests as well. However, it was really quite a warm day where people preferred the comforts of the air-conditioned room.

Let’s have a look at the beautiful wedding cake!

After a while more, it is time to feed our stomachs and so we head out to the open area at the back again to queue for our food.

The lunch buffet was good! I especially love the Caribbean Chicken Cutlet and Rib Eye Cutlet! Mmmmmm, yes, I am a Carnivore! 😀

With a good ambience and good food, this would be a place to check out when you are in Kuala Lumpur.

Victory Street 1 Boutique Hotel

Kuala Lumpur is not a place I fancy but had to be there to attend a colleague’s wedding. I decided to book a hotel that’s reasonably good and will probably stay in just to chill out with my other colleague as work had been pretty hectic. We both deserved a good rest!

Tricky bit was that we would arrive about 4.30 in the morning and there was no way we would be able to check in that early! Either we book another room night or just find something budget for the morning half and then head over to the nice hotel after our colleague’s lunch wedding. We were not about to spend that much on accommodation so finally found one that seemed rather decent.

Honestly, I was not expecting much for the price we paid. SGD30.00/night for a standard double room. I checked out the reviews and booked the hotel via Agoda.com

On the day of arrival,  we could have walked but being not familiar with the area and Kuala Lumpur was not exactly a safe place, we took a taxi. The driver drove to the area and then commented that he did not know there was a hotel there and all we could see along the way were factories and constructions, he even commented that the hotel could have been demolished!

Anyways, soon enough we finally spotted our hotel. The lady at the reception spoke good English and advised that the room night had been paid when the booking was made but a deposit of MYR100.00 was required. After verifying the passport, we were given a plastic folder containing the remotes for the air-conditioning and TV an extension cord cable, along with the password for the free wifi.

The room given to us was on the 1st floor and was a room with no windows. Both of us wearily placed our baggage on the floor and turned on the air-conditioning. All else was actually pretty decent, the bathroom was clean and most importantly, there was no stale smell.

The air-conditioning was good, the room did not smell musty, wifi was strong, bedding was clean. To be honest, it was better than I expected although some may beg to differ.

We checked out around 11.30am and it was on the way out that we discovered we were right in the centre of many chocolate factories. In fact, there was a chocolate museum just opposite the hotel! There was a local coffeeshop just next door and I was told it would take us about 20-30mins by foot to KLCC via KLCC-Bukit Bintang Walkway.
